When I met Claire the very first time for our consultation at Panera, I remember thinking that I couldn't get over how much I admired her. I mean truly admired her. Claire is a person that radiates light. It is hard to be around her for more than five minutes and not fall in love with her calming personality. There is a deep stillness to her spirit that is both beautiful and inspiring. The words she spoke of her soon to be husband were so seasoned with love and light that it was a beaming example to me of how I want to live. I am so honored that she wanted to work with me.
Claire and Kevin met seven years ago through a mutual friend. She was living in the Caribbean at the time but it wasn't very long after they started dating that they knew this was going to be long term. She moved to Richmond and over the years their love and devotion grew stronger until one day earlier this year Kevin popped the big question and they decided to say "I do." At our first meeting Claire let me know that she wanted her wedding to reflect her and Kevin and how much they enjoy life and each other. More than anything, they wanted their wedding day to be a celebration of their love.
They are both members of New Kent Winery and since they love it so much, they decided it was the perfect place to start this new chapter of their lives together.
You can tell from these photos how much love Claire and Kevin have for one another!
They were married on a beautiful Saturday on October 10, 2015. I, unfortunately, was unable to be at their wedding as I was already booked for another wedding that same day, but I hired my friend Nicole who has been in the wedding industry for five years to be their on-site coordinator. Claire knew this initially when she reached out but she felt like we had a lot of things in common and wanted to work with me anyways so Nicole came with me to that first consultation meeting.
Prior to the wedding, Claire hired me to help her with some of the design work. She chose a lovely and rich color palette of deep hunter green, cobalt blue, gold, and lots of natural greenery. Let's just say I was more than a little excited when she showed me her inspiration! If you know me, you know my heart goes pitter-patter for anything creative. We met a couple of times to discuss her design options and even did a mock table setting at Classic Party Rentals here in town. Claire opted to make her own bouquets through a DIY session at Vogue Flowers and I am in awe of how well they turned out! And even though I didn't get to be there to see everything set up in person, I received the photos today and I must say, the results are simply stunning! The wedding truly reflected Claire and Kevin as a couple.
I love how they incorporated parts of their personality into their wedding day like how they showcased their love of travel with these fun luggage tag wedding favors, the globe on the guest book table, and even naming the guest tables after some of the cities they've visited together. They even had these fun Wonder Woman and Superman cake toppers letting guests in on their fun and whimsical sides!
In the end, Claire and Kevin are a couple that is very much in love. Even after being together all these years they are still very much best friends. They love each other and they love people. They have the support of wonderful family and friends that flew in from various places all over the world, just to be there to show them love on their important day. What a blessing!
We wish you the best, guys!
P.S. They got to do one more dance by themselves after all the guests had left. Just a moment between the two of them to breathe in the moment and just be together. Sigh.
