Back at the end of October I had the pleasure of working with a handful of amazing wedding vendors on a styled shoot called "A Savoir Faire" and today it was featured on Elizabeth Ann Designs, a fine art wedding blog! When Nicki Pliodzinskas of Nicki Metcalf Photography and Lindsey Livesay, Owner of Annalise Bridal Boutique first approached me to do a shoot, I knew I wanted to do something that was a deviation from my normal aesthetic. If you know me then you know that my normal aesthetic leans more toward light, bright, airy, and soft. However, as an artist, I am drawn to any and all work that expresses beauty and creativity. I love to push and challenge myself and that's just what we set out to do with this shoot.
When Lindsey, Nicki, and I were meeting at Lindsey's house one Saturday morning to go over wedding dress options, we knew right away that this gorgeous Hayley Paige dress was the one! From there, we chose a color palette of dark and rich colors to contrast the soft blush of the dress. I came up with a mood board featuring a color palette of rich eggplant, olive green, gray, and blush. Much of the inspiration for the shoot comes from a combination of Silk & Willow images and 17th and 18th century European art (I am after all a once Art History buff). We wanted the shoot to be moody, romantic, and to feel like film. And bonus! Don (my husband) and I got to model! It was so much fun and I am thrilled with the results!
Hayley Paige, you know what you're doing! What a stunning wedding dress.
This ring was given to me by my dad!
I love how the rich eggplant color plays off of the natural greenery in the background! This was one of my favorite tables I've designed to date! The Proper Petal sure does do purdy fleurs!
Every time I see these photos I feel like I'm watching an 18th century novel unfold in still life!
I wrote these vows to Don as if I was writing them on our actual wedding day and Chloe of English Tea Paperie put them on this lovely print out for me!
How unique is this cake with the draping over one side by Gourmand Bakery? Assymetry makes me happy.
I just can't get over how well everyone did! Nicki is such an amazing photographer and I highly recommend that you consider using her in your wedding or in a styled shoot for all you vendors! In a sense this shoot helped me to relive one of the best days of my life - my wedding day. I loved getting to wear this stunning dress, having my hair and makeup professionally done, and pretending to be getting married all over again. I am not one who typically loves to get dressed up, but when you get to feel pretty and have photos taken with your spouse - it can be quite fun.
Thank you so much again to everyone who helped bring this shoot to life!
